This was sent to me via email no copyright intended just want to get the word out.
As soon as next week the U.S. Senate could take up the much-delayed food safety bill – thanks to your countless emails and phone calls. And we have the opportunity right now to better protect our kids if we all speak out!
An amendment may be offered to the food-safety bill to make sure a potentially harmful chemical – Bisphenol A, or BPA for short – is kept out of babies' and toddlers' food and drink containers. The chemical has been linked to an increased cancer risk and other diseases, prompting seven US states to already ban it in some form.
Now, some Senators are pushing to give all of America’s kids this protection. But the powerful chemical and infant-formula industries are doing all they can to kill the amendment!
Tell your Senators to put America’s kids before the giant chemical industry!
BPA is found in certain plastic bottles and food-package liners, where it can leach into the food and drink inside, and then into children’s bodies. Hundreds of studies have linked it to health problems including increased risk of breast and prostate cancer, reproductive problems, heart problems and diabetes.
The proposed amendment would ban BPA from baby bottles, sippy cups, baby food and infant formula. It’s just common sense that babies and toddlers shouldn’t be exposed to potentially dangerous chemicals.
And there is no reason to put our kids at unnecessary risk, since containers that don't contain this chemical are already on the market!
Let’s get the food-safety bill passed with this important amendment! Tell your Senators to support the BPA ban.
We expect a tough fight, since last week the chemical and infant formula industries narrowly killed a BPA ban in California. Use your voice now to speak out in Washington for all the babies and toddlers who can’t!
And after you act, please forward this email to friends and family so they can add their voices, too. Thank you!
Sincerely,
Jean Halloran
Well couldn't get links to show up so just type in this website and you should see a form to fill out to send to your senator. copy and paste --> notinmyfood.org
Hopefully that will work. I think it's outrageous that these companies don't care about the health of their customers especially babies!!

Sleepless in cyberworld
I have a hard time sleeping all the time! Now my teen son has been complaining of not being able to fall asleep and then waking up several times after he finally does fall asleep. With back to school around the corner I'm trying to help him solve this problem. The thing is how can I help him when I can't sleep myself? It's very frustrating to say the least. What I don't get is that he has no problem sleeping all day, but he can't sleep at night. I thought insomnia was if you couldn't sleep at all like days at a time. He isn't drinking soda so caffeine is not keeping him up. He doesn't want to go to the doctor for a presciption because he doesn't like to take pills and because of the side affects listed. Also my toddler seems to be having trouble sleeping as well. I think my toddler may have restless leg syndrome cause he wakes in the middle of the night crying saying his legs are bothering him. My husband has restless leg syndrome and I've read that it can run in the family. I have taken him to the doctor but she doesn't think he's old enough to have it.

How do you get kids to eat healthy?
So we've never really eaten healthy in this family. Growing up my mom worked double shifts so I seen her long enough for her to take me to McDonalds to grab something to eat on the way from school to the babysitters house. I am not that great of a cook either! This has turned into a confession post! Anyways I want to get better at being a role model for my kids, but we are all so used to the tasty unhealthy foods that when we try healthy foods it just isn't the same. I need advice on how to get passed all the whines of "can't we go out to eat?" and the "no way am I eating that!" before they even try it! I need simple easy and tasty food ideas that the whole family can enjoy. I also need to be able to buy the ingredients at Walmart cause that's the only store I have close by. Some of the recipes I found online call for ingredients I couldn't find. How do you get your kids to eat healthy? I know it's something I should of started when they were born then it would just be normal to them, but I'm just getting myself to the point of wanting to do better. Any ideas?

Food for thought...........
Have you ever wonder what goes on the fruits and veggies we buy? I had never gave it much thought really until I read an email that said I am ingesting 67 different chemicals when I eat one celery stick! This is beyond crazy in my opinion. While I am no expert on farming I think the use of chemicals in this world has gotten out of control. I know the farmers have to use some kind of pesticides to keep the bugs from eating all the crops but I just can't see the need for all the chemicals. I also on the other hand can not afford to buy all organic produce. Also I live in a small area and there just aren't as much choices here for me to buy organic. I came across this site that talked about this and wanted to share it. They have a list called " The Dirty Dozen" which is the 12 worst produce items to buy. Meaning they contain the highest amount of chemicals. The produce on this list are produce that you should do your best to find organic of! There is also a list called "The Clean 15" which is a list produce that don't contain as many pesticides.

Bra Makeover
I hate bra shopping! With 3 kids it isn't easy to always try before I buy so sometimes I get home and they don't fit. I'm usually forget to take them back or think it's not worth the trouble so I always deal with bras that don't fit. I have always wanted to go into the "fancy" shops and get fitted for a bra but I am to embarrassed. Did you know Seven out of 10 women are wearing the wrong size bra, which can result in an ill fit for the rest of their outfit, back and shoulder pain, as well as bruising and digging. I didn't know that but I'm 100% sure I one of the seven! I am in need of a bra makeover for sure! That's why I'm going over to www.PlaytexBraMakeover.com a site where women can go to apply for a bra makeover or nominate a friend. If chosen, the winner will be flown to New York to receive a Bra Makeover with style expert Alison Deyette. Deyette is a fashion and trend lifestyle expert who has been featured on Bravo's Millionaire Matchmaker and TLC's Ten Years Younger, as well as in print publications including Good Housekeeping, The Washington Post, and O Magazine. Apply for your chance to win a Playtex Bra Makeover today.

Terrible two's?!
Ok how in the world do you discipline a two year old after he slaps you in the face and then looks at you with those puppy dog eyes and says sorry mama then does it AGAIN! My toddler has been driving me batty the past few days. He refuses to nap, screams all day long and now has begun hitting everyone! The sad part is I have raised two year olds before but never dealt with any of this. My older kids were cool and calm and my oldest still is. I admit my middle child has her moments but she is the only girl and she was the baby of the family for 8 years until we had E. I'm not big on spanking because I feel it just doesn't work. Honestly how can you tell a 2 yr old not to hit if you hit him right! But I have tried time out and let's just say I suck and I'm a total push over! After a minute of shriking like I just beat him on top of him hitting his self and telling me how mean I am I usually end up needing my own time out. I can only take so much before I start to cry myself. I am seriously thinking of calling Nanny 911. I need major help!

I am on the look out for a new set of pots and pans. With all the recalls and the talk about all the chemicals loaded up in everyday items I'm wanting to buy a set that doesn't have the teflon I've heard so much about. Not only for the Earth but also for the safety of my family. Here are a few of the sets I've been looking at if anyone has used any of these I would love to hear your take on them.
